We are looking for an exceptional educator to work with an 8 year old boy to supplement his school education.
The tuition will be mainly in the family home in Leeds, UK, with some international travel throughout the year.
In addition to supporting his schoolwork, the main focus will be to encourage and develop a love of learning and provide him with the opportunities to explore and fulfil his potential throughout his life.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The student attends a good private school in Leeds. He is currently 9 years old and is in Year 4 and although he is making good progress at school his parents feel that the addition of a private tutor would be hugely beneficial. In addition to the educational benefits, it would enable a more flexible lifestyle, allowing the family to travel together globally following the father’s sporting calendar.
The intention is that he continues at school, with the tutor supplementing his education as follows:
- Design and delivery of a wide ranging enrichment programme to provide an environment in which he can discover, explore and grow to love a wide variety of topics. This will not be limited to specific areas, certainly not just to the standard school subjects. Opportunities to develop his interests, to allow him to learn life lessons, to follow new creative pathways should be sought out and explored.
- By arrangement with the school, providing supplementary lessons during the school day. He would be withdrawn from the standard timetabled lessons to facilitate this.
- After school support with homework, preparation for tests and extension
We are looking for a teacher with an outstanding academic record and an ongoing passion for learning, both for themselves and to encourage it in others. The ideal candidate will be as comfortable in the fields of maths, technology, literature, music and art. It is extremely important that they are able to innovate, to facilitate opportunities, to maintain rigour, and most importantly to inspire.
The teacher must be willing and able to travel with the family as required, including internationally.
The successful candidate will be inspirational in their delivery and act as a role model in their conduct.
Liaison with the school as required is expected.
Full records of all teaching and learning activities and progress must be kept up to date.
The teachers must not smoke or vape, should be apolitical, tolerant and respectful towards others.
HOURS AND HOLIDAYS
This is a full-time position. The expectation is that the teacher will follow a flexible timetable, fitting in with the students needs as determined by his parents. Some time will be spent in school with him, with the majority of the time after school and at weekends. Flexibility and a “can do” attitude are expected from the teacher with an expectation of normally around 40 hours per week.
The teacher will be entitled to 45 days holiday per year, to be taken at times convenient to the client.
ACCOMMODATION, TRAVEL & MISCELLANEOUS
Accommodation will not be provided as there is a plentiful supply of rental property in the area.
A car will be made available if required.
Relocation expenses will be covered by the client
