Europe Nanny - Summer

SALARY: $7,500 - $11,250 per month depending on experience

A nanny/tutor is required to travel with a US family during their summer vacation.  They will be travelling in Europe between mid June and mid August.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The family has two children, an 8-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy.  The girl’s education has been disrupted due to the recent fires in Los Angeles, which destroyed her school. The ideal tutor will be able to encourage and inspire her, particularly with reading.

The successful candidate will primarily serve as a nanny, with the care of both children being the top priority. While the tutoring aspects of the position are secondary, they are still essential. 

The family will be on vacation between Turkey, Italy, France, and possibly Switzerland for approximately 2 months from mid June to mid August.  They will be staying in hotels and rented properties.  

The nanny will be responsible for child care as required, accompanying the family on excursions and activities, and sometimes being left in sole charge of the children. 

They are expected to be physically fit, dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational.  They will be willing and able to join in with activities with the children, including swimming.

The girl has been slightly behind her classmates with her reading.  The nanny/teacher will have the experience and ability to design and deliver a program across the summer to encourage her to read more and to improve her skills in this area.  The use of activities with an educational basis as part of the more general child care role for both children are also expected.

Teaching is to be delivered in English.  The tutor must be completely fluent.  The ability to speak and teach another language, particularly French, would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will be forward thinking, apolitical, tolerant and respectful towards others. 

ACCOMMODATION AND TRAVEL

Accommodation will be provided with the family in each location.  This will vary, but will always include a separate bathroom as a minimum.  

All travel costs will be covered.

HOURS AND HOLIDAYS

This is a full-time position.  A flexible approach to time off is expected, but it is likely that at least one day per week will be nominated as a day off.

There is no holiday entitlement in this short term role.
