An experienced tutor is required to work with two girls, aged 5 and 8 for one month from late September.  The girls attend a UK independent school in London, but will be based at their family home near Cannes, France for one month from 22 September.

The school are supportive of this arrangement and will liaise with the tutor, who will ensure that they stay on track with their classmates.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The family has two girls, aged 5 and 8.  They will be starting Year 1 and 3 on September 4 at their school in London before spending one month at their family home near Cannes.

They are both doing well at school, particularly the eldest who was awarded the  ‘academic child of the year’ prize this year.  They are engaging children with a range of interests, especially chess, drama, singing and music (guitar, flute and piano).

If practical, the tutor will visit the school beforehand to meet with the teachers and to discuss the planned liaison.  The school will be able to provide details of the topics to be covered and any materials.  They will also provide examples of the girls’ work.

The tutor will liaise with the girls’ school to keep them on course with what their classmates are doing.  They will be set homework, typically every weekday, which the tutor will supervise and support them in as needed.

It is expected that the more formal school work will be completed more quickly than when in the classroom and that the time gained will be used by the tutor for enrichment activities.  This could include ongoing project work, visits to local attractions, making use of the outside world to support school topics etc.  The tutor will be innovative and inspirational in their planning and delivery of these activities.

The successful candidate will be forward thinking, apolitical, tolerant and respectful towards others. 

ACCOMMODATION AND TRAVEL

Accommodation will be provided in a self contained guest house in the grounds of the family home.  This includes separate kitchen and bathroom facilities.  

A car will be provided for the tutor’s personal use and to transport the girls to local attractions as required.  It would be beneficial for the tutor to have a driving license and to be a confident driver.

All travel costs will be covered by the client..

HOURS AND HOLIDAYS

This is a full-time short term position.  A flexible approach to time off is expected, but it is likely that at least one day per week will be nominated as a day off.

There is no holiday entitlement in this short term role.
