Two exceptional, knowledgeable and experienced tutors are required to provide a full-time homeschool environment for a 6  year old girl and 3 year old boy.  The tutors should be skilled in developing inquiring young minds and comfortable creating a tailored curriculum. The position will start as soon as possible for the right candidates and is envisaged as a long term role. The tutoring will take place in the family home in Boca Raton, Florida, with occasional international travel. The tutors can be individuals or a couple.

STUDENTS

The 6 year old girl is a bright student who enjoys learning and is currently testing in the 95th percentile for mathematics nationally. Her reading is also well above age related expectations. She is curious about the world around her; the successful candidates should be happy to answer questions on a broad range of subjects.

The 3 year old boy is similarly curious and enjoys investigative learning. He has an excellent memory and uses this to good effect engaging in his current love of dinosaurs.

Both students speak English and Spanish. They enjoy being in water, playing sports and making music.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The teachers will have suitable experience and expertise teaching students of the appropriate age.

They will be required to design and deliver an appropriate broad spectrum curriculum that engages both students and allows them to satisfy their intellectual curiosity.  The intention is that the students are provided with a supportive, encouraging learning experience as well as an effective one. The teachers should design assessment and feedback mechanisms that encourage learning and develop lifelong learning skills. The successful candidates will be inspirational in their delivery and act as role models in their conduct.

This role is broader than just teaching – there is a large holistic development element to it as well. The tutors should be creative in providing wider-world learning opportunities to support the more structured lessons. This should encourage both the students’ academic and personal development. Opportunities should be sought, in conjunction with the parents, for the students to meet and interact with other children of their own age.

The tutors should have other skills and interests to contribute beyond their mainstream teaching ability. Being comfortable in and around water is important, being a skilled musician would be desirable. The  successful candidates will ideally speak at least one language in addition to English and Spanish.

Any educational and regulatory requirements should be fully understood and complied with.

Full records of all teaching and learning activities and progress must be kept up to date.

HOURS AND HOLIDAYS

These are full-time positions. The teachers will work with the students for an average of 40 hours per week, with planning and preparation to be carried out in addition. Flexibility and a “can do” attitude are expected from the teacher in order to facilitate educational enrichment activities.

The teacher will be entitled to 40 days holiday per year, to be taken at times convenient to the client, plus federal holidays.

ACCOMMODATION, TRAVEL AND MISCELLANEOUS

The teachers will be provided with separate accommodation and all travel expenses. They will also have access to a shared car.
