This job has been filled.

A qualified and experienced tutor is required to provide some teaching and some activities for 2 children aged 8 and 5. The tutor should be comfortable in both a nannying and teaching role. The position will be from 8th July to 31st July, followed by 7th August to 3rd September. It is possible that, for the right candidate, this may become a long term role. The tutoring will take place mainly in Gibraltar, the South of France and Monaco.

STUDENTS

There are two students aged 8 and 5, although at times they will be joined by three to four friends. They are both bright, engaged students who currently attend an Independent School in London. They enjoy outdoor activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The teacher will have suitable experience and expertise teaching students of the appropriate age. They will also have appropriate experience nannying and entertaining children of this age in a holiday setting.

For some of the time the tutor will be required to add breadth and depth to the concepts studied in the children’s curriculum this last school year. The intention is that the students are provided with a supportive, encouraging learning experience as well as an effective one. This will normally take place for a few days at a time, 6 hours a day.

This role is much broader than just teaching – there is an entertaining and nannying element to it as well. The tutor is expected to engage with the students, and their friends at times, to provide play based development experiences utilising the variety of locations visited over the seven weeks. The tutor should be creative in providing  wider-world learning opportunities to support the more structured lessons. This should encourage both of the students’ academic and personal development.

The tutor will be spending a large amount of time with the family, so it is essential that they are fun to be around, easy going, communicative and adaptable. Ideally the tutor should have other skills and interests to contribute beyond their mainstream teaching ability. Enjoying a healthy, active, sporting lifestyle, including swimming, would be advantageous.

Familiarity with life aboard an ocean going yacht would be similarly advantageous, but not essential.

The tutor must not smoke or vape.

HOURS AND HOLIDAYS

This is a short-term, full-time position.  The teacher will work with the students for 6 hours a day, 6 days a week from 8th July to 31st July, followed by 7th August to 3rd September with planning and preparation to be carried out in addition. Flexibility and a “can do” attitude are expected from the teacher/nanny in order to facilitate educational enrichment and other activities.

ACCOMMODATION, TRAVEL AND MISCELLANEOUS

The tutor will be provided with accommodation and travel costs for the duration of the contract.
