How Does Homeschooling Work - Beacon Education

Pennsylvania

LOCATION: Delaware County, Pennsylvania
SALARY: $150 per hour
HOURS: 6-8 hours per week
START: September 2026
DURATION: Ongoing
ACCOMMODATION: Not provided
HOLIDAY: Not provided

We are looking for an experienced, high quality teacher to work with two students who are home schooling.  They will be in grade 3 and 6 in September.

They will be at a home school co-op for part of the week, but will benefit from individual teaching at home to ensure that the core subjects are mastered.

This by-the-hour role is to start in September and could continue for several years.

STUDENTS

There are two students: a 6th grade girl and a 3rd grade boy.

They are both very attentive and academically gifted. They will benefit from an inspirational teacher to set the foundations of their learning, and to motivate them to achieve their full potential.

The girl is particularly advanced in math.

The children are at a home school co-op Tuesday-Thursday and at home on Monday and Friday each week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The teacher will work with the children individually or together as appropriate on Monday and Friday each week. The exact timing is to be agreed, but potentially it would be for 3-4 hours in the morning on each day.

The main focus will be on the core subjects: math, English, and science. Social studies, languages etc could be covered as well if this is possible.

Comprehensive documentation of teaching, learning activities, and student progress should be maintained, including written records and supporting materials as appropriate.

HOURS AND HOLIDAYS

This is a part time position. The teacher will record when they work and will be paid on an hourly basis at the end of each month. Any planning and preparation would be carried out in the teacher’s own time (ie unpaid).

The schedule is to be agreed, but is likely to be Monday and Friday mornings during the standard school term times.

The teacher will not be entitled to paid holiday.

ACCOMMODATION AND TRAVEL

The teacher will not be provided with accommodation. They will be expected to make their own travel arrangements to the family home each day.
