An experienced tutor is required to work with a 15 year old boy over the summer. He attends a UK independent school, but will be based in Palermo, Sicily for the summer.
The intention is that the tutor will help him to get ready for the start of the GCSE years and to develop some effective study skills to allow him to reach his potential at school.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The family has two children, a girl of 11 and a boy of 15. The girl will not be included in the tutor’s responsibilities during this placement.
The family are Italian, but based in the UK, where the boy attends a good independent school. During the summer they live in their home in Palermo, Sicily, It is likely that they will spend about 2 weeks in their home in Ibiza during August.
The boy is well behaved and polite. He has started to struggle academically in the last year or so in all subjects apart from English and French. His recent end of year test results were disappointing.
The intention is to help him across the curriculum by a structured program of study and revision, accompanied by less formal activities that will allow for and encourage general intellectual development. Input from school reports, previous work etc will be provided where available.
There will be a mentorship aspect to the role. The tutor will live within the family home and opportunities to spend time with the boy in less formal situations are encouraged.
At the end of the summer the tutor will provide an evaluation of his progress and his general abilities, strengths and weaknesses. This should include recommendations for future academic planning.
